October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Published on October 03, 2019

In October the weather starts getting colder, the leaves adorn vibrant colors and drop from the trees, and many of us begin thinking about the upcoming holidays which are right around the corner.

As the month progresses, besides the many shades of brown and vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow that are inherent in the season, you may also notice an increase in the color pink everywhere from sporting events to advertisement to clothing and more, this is because October is breast cancer awareness month and pink helps to raise awareness.

Here are a few facts According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc.:

  • Nearly 270 thousand NEW cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S.
  • 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
  • Even though it is rare, 1 in 1,000 men will get breast cancer.
  • In 2019 an estimated 42,000 women will die from breast cancer.
  • There are over 3.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.

With these statistics, chances are you may know someone who has battled breast cancer. So let’s help to raise awareness of the most common cancer for women. If you know someone, or know someone who’s been taken by this horrible disease, remember to be strong, and fight. Not just for you, but for the ones you love. Remember, don’t give up; NEVER give up, and you are not alone in this fight.

We leave you with some quotes from breast cancer survivors, caregivers and fighters:

“You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live”

“You are Braver than you believe, Stronger than you seem, Smarter than you think and twice as BEAUTIFUL as you ever imagined”

“It’s often in the darkest skies, what we see is the brightest stars”
